I am doing research for my final essay, the question is "Do the elements of a fictional work plausibly reflect real life experience?". I have chosen a story by Toer, which discusses a marriage between and 8 year old girl and a seventeen year old boy who has paid for the girl. Does anyone know if this does or did happen in Indonesia? I have done several google/yahoo searches but nothing comes up.
