Can someone update me on the repairs of the 6 earthquake damaged cables in Taiwan?
I am trying to work from Indonesia where Internet access is still as bad as it was a couple of days after the earthquake incident. No one here is able to give me an update on the repairs. It was said in December repairs could take up to 3 weeks. We are now 24/01 and the situation is as bad as after the quake. When will the repairs be completed?

If its unlocked (as it more than likely will be if its coming from there) yes. If buying from eBay why not just buy one from the US?

That depends. iPhone are still not able to be used in Indonesia (Due to difference in telecommunications policies). So that person who auctioned his iPhone on eBay probably realized it too late and he decided to sell it anyway. Just ask him, where does the iPhone reginonalized.

I am disqualified from driving in the UK (Drink Driving) am I allowed to drive any where else in the world?
I would like to do some voluntary work in Indonesia, but a certain amount of driving is necessary. Is it possible to obtain some sort of licence to drive in Asia (Indonesia) despite my UK ban, short term will do. Thank you for any advice given. Neil.

Yes I did this, you can apply for your licience back to drive abroad, you haven't had your licience taken away, merely the permision to drive in UK. Mind you this was 25 years ago, rules may have changed now

All the countries that would need you to hold a full clean UK license then yes as you dont currently have a full license as yours is suspended. 'An International Driving Permit (IDP) is valid for 12 months form the date of issue (see also important note 1 below). Recognised internationally it normally allows the holder to drive a private motor vehicle when accompanied by a valid UK driving licence. (See also important note 2 below) Most countries require a 1949 Convention IDP but for certain countries, a 1926 Convention IDP is necessary. The AA is authorised to issue both the 1926 and 1949 Convention IDPs to applicants 18 years and over who hold a valid UK driving licence, or can obtain such a licence on the basis of a valid pass certificate. IDPs cannot be issued to a holder of a UK provisional driving licence without the test pass certificate and provisional driving licence. An IDP is a permit for use in conjunction with your driving licence, not in place of it. In some countries, you risk being fined or worse for relying solely on an IDP.' You need a '1949 Convention IDP' license in Indonesia.

employers in the US/CANADA will only sponsor you IF you have 'special skills' required by the country... example : teachers, physicians, electrical engineers etc.. these are all examples so you need to check on their websites (embassies) for more information.. once you have discovered that they require your skills, read more as they definately want qualifications recognized by the country.. from there (if successful) you'll be in touch with the corporation(s) that posted the vacancies in order to take the next step.. some employers will pay FULL visas wherelse some employers will deduct a certain percentage from your salary to cover their cost in bringing you into the country....it depends on the job and situations surounds it... to work as a server (say in hotels etc..), constructions, oil rigs, cruise ship etc.. you'll have to get in contact with people in your current country and get posted oversease via contract... that is more secure to actually GETTING the job rather than to migrate to another country... best of luck and i wish you all the best (^_^)
