I wasn't there for the tsunami but went to Amparai in Sri Lanka 3 days later and stayed for 6 weeks, helping the injured and assisting in identifying bodies. The experience changed my life forever.

It wasn't so much the residents of the area that died, it was the tourists. The "locals" saw the water receded rapidly and told everyone to run. The locals knew the signs of this disaster, but so many ignored the warning and died.

I put on a concert at our church to raise money for Tsunami Victims. We sent it to a few churches in India and Thailand in which we knew the pastors. Only 40 people showed up for this concert and I was so discouraged but we still raised $3000 and that goes along way over there. Such a horrible horrible catastrophe for all those living where it hit.
