Does Capitalism really work..

Does Capitalism really work...?
If there is always a victim? in Capitalism, You may think that everyone benefits from the "miracles of capitalism", but doesn't one realise that the people suffering from the effects (the man who in indonesia who works in the Nike shop for 13 cents an hour, the Mexican Migrant worker etc.) also, Why doesn't anyone acknowledge that Czech Republic, Spain, Venezuela, Israel, etc. are all successfully run countries with higher qualities of life? can ANYONE answer that, who is an opponent to socialism? (and please, no bullshit like "oh, they pay higher taxes, so they suck" who cares? they have better lives as a result)

Capitalism is the rewarding of greed. Sugar coat it all you want but capitalism is all about the exploitation of the earth ,its people and its resources.
2 :
Pure capitalism will always ultimately fail because man is incapable of controlling his inherent greedy nature.
3 :
Capitalism can only work with Government intervention.
4 :
Yes. If it is regulated.
5 :
Nopes/ Yeps depends on the people who experience it.
6 :
Only those who would otherwise do worse have 'better lives' those who would do better have worse. And upwards mobility for those who excell is pretty much abolished. Oh, come on Samantha, the market bubbles and crash was CREATED by government intervention through the Fed and social engineering. The bailout had nothing to do with Capitalism.
7 :
Everything you have is born from Capitalism. Capitalism allows us to roll out of bed and drive to a store to get the stuff we use ever day. No other country has it as great as the US, and let our taxes are half that of other countries. Czech Republic, Spain, Venezuela, Israel, are not better off then the US or do they have a better way of life. They have a simplier way of life and thus requiresnext to none of the crap the US demands.
8 :
No, but it is the best system we have. And yes socialism can work but it will have the same problems that capitalism does, GREED.
9 :
Capitalism builds economic growth but unfettered capitalism fosters abuse. The basic capitalist system also contains no provisions for protecting people during periods of severe economic downturn or to protect those who are economically disadvantaged even during good economic times. The representatives of the citizens are tasked with addressing the interests of the people including appropriate safety nets and social programs that promote their interests. I don't know whether that qualifies as socialism but I do know that such safety nets and programs are necessary in a modern complex society. In the olden days people starved to death and begged on the streets. Also, workers were exploited, consumers cheated and shareholders defrauded, mostly without recourse. We are much more advanced in our social thinking and no ethical country would allow such conditions to exist unaddressed.
10 :
First, what exactly do you consider a better quality of life? Having the government control all aspects of your life? At what cost? Capitalism rewards those who are willing to get off their butts and do something. It isn't a perfect system but it sure beats the alternatives. Do you honestly think that everybody should put their earnings into a big pot to have it evenly handed back out? Have you ever worked with a slacker and been pissed off that he/she is making the same amount as you? Or are you that slacker? A dollar-a-day is not the same in all countries. The world is getting smaller and we should help bring modern conveniences to different parts of the world but not by trying to pretend that all people are the same in their moral integrity. Hard workers will slow down and slackers will stop altogether That's why communism has been such a huge failure.
11 :
There is always a "victim" because some people try to get something for nothing and it backfires on them, so all they are a "victim" of is their own avarice, which is their fault, not the system's.
12 :
it does but this doesn't mean that the government has no role to play.
13 :
So is it better for the man in Indonesia not to have a job? The mexican migrant worker comes to the states for a better paying job and if these jobs existed in mexico he would stay there and work. Look up the term comparative advantage. BTW Veneuela is having a major financial crisis right now in case you haven't read the news.

No capitalism doesn't work and the more "pure" the bigger the failures. http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=9621 http://www.spotlightonpoverty.org/why_spotlight_poverty.aspx Capitalism, and the imperialist system that develops upon its economic foundations, is the main cause of human poverty, exploitation, violence and suffering in the modern world. As a system of socio-economic organization, capitalism long ago exhausted its historically progressive role. The blood-drenched history of the twentieth century – with its two world wars, innumerable “local” conflicts, the nightmare of Nazism and other forms of military-police dictatorship, eruptions of genocide and communal pogroms – is an unanswerable indictment of the capitalist system. The number of victims claimed by capitalist-inspired violence runs into the hundreds of millions. And this figure does not include the consignment of the peoples of entire continents to unrelenting poverty, with all its attendant miseries. The gigantic scale of the existing productive forces and the extraordinary advances in technology are more than sufficient not only to abolish poverty but also to guarantee every human being on the planet a high standard of living. Culture should be flowering amidst unprecedented material wealth. But, instead, conditions of life are deteriorating for the working class, and human culture, deprived of perspective and hope for the future, is in deep crisis. The source of the contradiction between what is and what should be is a global economic system based on private ownership of the means of production, and the irrational division of the world into rival nation-states. 8. All efforts to raise the living standards of the working class and address serious social problems run up against the barrier of private ownership of the means of production, the anarchy of the capitalist market, the economic imperatives of the profit system, and, last but not least, the insatiable greed and money-madness of the ruling class itself. The claim that the capitalist market is the infallible allocator of resources and the supremely wise arbiter of social needs stands utterly discredited amidst the endless series of speculative scandals and multi-billion dollar bankruptcies that have rocked the world economic system during the past decade. The boundary lines between “legitimate” financial transactions and criminal fraud have narrowed to the point of being almost invisible. The separation of the process of personal wealth accumulation from the production and creation of real value is an expression of the general putrefaction of the capitalist system

Capitalism works for those who participate and when greedy thugs are kept at bay. No system is without flaws however our system is the best in the world. Wages paid to workers in overseas countries are dismal compared to ours yet these people are working making whatever they make when before there was no future at all for them. I would expect for the larger of the companies to pay better but that's when the greed element enters. The master of all greedy empires and abusers of people is Walmart. How many of you shopped there yesterday or will buy from there today?

Capitalism is not perfect but it's the greatest system ever. Capitalism is implemented everyday by everyday normal people. As screwed up as our government is they pretty much are not in out day to day lives. We have freedom to roll out of bed everyday and pretty much do anything within ones own resources and motivation. Mexico is run by a corrupt totalitarianism. People from Mexico are literally dying to get into this country. People from all over south America eastern Europe, Asia, India and places all over try to get into this country by droves. Why? Because we have the greatest country with the most opportunity. People are not flocking to the Czech Republic or anywhere else they are still trying to come here. I agree Israel is a well run country with a fairly good quality of life interrupted by frequent but short period of bombings and attacks by palestinians and other terrorist groups. Not where I'd want to raise my kids!! I'm surprised you did not bring up Canada a country I have visited often and spent extended period of time in. This is a hybrid of capitalism and socialism. They have government run health care system. It's a pretty well run system but still not near as good as ours. They pay high taxes but they also do not have the convoluted social-welfare system we have and are able to control their spending better than us. OK I'm rambling. We have the best system and the most opportunities than anywhere else by far. That's why the rest of the world envies us.

Capitalism can only work properly in a pure system. When it's mixed with monopolistic markets such as OPEC and government mandates ie health insurance that must cover pregnancy in people that can't get pregnant, and lower housing loan standards via Fanny and Freddy. Czech Republic, Spain, Venezuela, Israel, Really you think that any of those countries can hold a candle to the U.S. ? California is larger than all of those combined GDP wise. Feel free to grab a machine gun and go. Physically the largest state in the US could hold them all. The vastness of our country changes the most simple of the problems countries deal with and that's travel infrastructure. It's simple to transport people across 560k sq miles 3,8 mil. sq miles is a little different. The only victims of our capitalist society are those who choose to sit out.
18 :
Capitalism is predicated by an expectation that someone will lose. In order for profit making to occur someone must lose...that is the very logic. And the great mass of the people must lose if a few are to amass mega wealth. So Capitalism works very well for the 1% at the top of the pyramid....but there is a Law of Diminishing Returns operating as you work your way down to the base. go ask the Residents in Public Housing, the Homeless, the unemployed....so how's that capitalism gig working out for you?? And they will say not well....but those with kids at Ivy League Colleges, with green lawns and Volvo's think they have slice of the pie worth fighting for. As the effects of this Depression start biting I think we may find though that fewer of us have that slice of pie....and then we may at last begin to overthrow the system that keeps so many starving, while others eat cake!!

heres one example of capitalism i lived in a city where if you walked down the street and said hello to a stranger they crossed over because they thought you must be a weirdo everyone is so determined to work hard so they can afford to buy unnecessary crap they they believe will improve their lives the reason they need this stuff is because they have no time to really enjoy their lives due to working so hard to get the money of course they must also convey to other people that they have the best stuff because this will also make them feel good about themselves naturally they are constantly bombarded by marketing to reinforce these beliefs this is capitalism at its finest what is not so obvious is that the accumulation of wealth and assets does not make a person content funnily enough from my experience the most content people on the planet are those with very little material possessions but plenty of family and a willingness to believe in god (please dont start bagging me as this is an observation not an opinion) they also possess the insight to know what makes them happy and accept that life is to be enjoyed and celebrated sadly i personally do no believe there is a system that will benefit everyone as greed is inherent in human nature and we as a whole (the huiman race) appear to have lost our way this is why i now live on a small island in the pacific far removed from tv and media propaganda where people smile and greet you when walking down the street

Question about visa travelling to Indonesia using HKDI passport

Question about visa travelling to Indonesia using HKDI passport?
I have a friend's husband who is holding a Hong Kong Document of Identity passport (HKDI) residing in Hong Kong and he needs to go to Indonesia for work purpose very soon. NB: Not HK Identification From what I have researched, it's a 30 days free visa but HKDI is actually a bit special and also, from what I have heard, you need a letter from a relative in Indonesia in order to grant a visa, is that true? I hope not, because it would be quite ridiculous as there are peoplpe who might go to Indonesia for holiday or work purpose (like my friend's husband), so therefore the reason does not justify. My friend tried to ring the indonesian embassy these couple of days but the line is always busy and since time is running out, I am representing on her behalf to ask this question. I hope anyone who knows about this or what solution can be done would be greatly appreciated. If there are any questions that you need to know before you are able to answer firmly, feel free to shoot out. Thank you very much in advance and have a great day

with indonesia esp if you're chinese airport immigration can be difficult. calling the embassy is fruitless as they never answer the public line. is there a way to get to the embassy and they work till 11am only. better to get a visa which costs $$. usually u dont need a letter from someone in indonesia. if work, then company should provide such assistance with their counterpart in indon. its the most corrupted country in the world. if u can avoid it

IS THERE SUCH A THING AS WORKING CLASS IN INDNESIA ?
2 :
they run around naked
3 :
no their clothing are more close to Malay cloth in Malaysia...if you are having an meeting or going to visit Official you have to wear a dress called "Batik" this is to respect i think or kind of formal dress
4 :
T and a pair of jeans. The weather is hot and humid out there.
5 :
Just wear some short-sleeve shirt/T-shirt... pretty hot and sunny there.
6 :
I think it's same and similar to the west. Like office suit. Or you can wear batik instead. It's formal too. But mostly ppl wear batik in wedding reception or some thing like that. So don't worry too much.
7 :
I prefer you ask about "working clothes", rather than "what working class wear". I prefer to not divide people into "working class", "elite class", whatever classes... Anyway, office workers throughout Indonesia wear semi-formal outfit. The male would wear shirt (long or short sleeves - with collar) and trousers. Some offices requires more formal dress that men should wear tie and blazer or jacket. Not many people use blazer in the dry season due to the hot weather. Another choice for office outfit is batik shirt. But this is considered more when you're going to meet public officials or going to attend a wedding ceremony. Sumatran wedding ceremony, however, uses more of their own traditional fabrics, called 'songket'. So you could wear songket as sort of sarong covering your trousers. Thank you for asking, btw :)
8 :
Do you men clothes workers wear at their workplace? That depends on the type of work and the location. In the cities (like Medan for example), office workers wear shirt (either short or long-sleeve) and formal trousers. But workers who are working in the oil companies (in Duri for example) are used to go to the office with casual clothes (polo-shirts and jeans).
9 :
they wear clothes? i thought all they wore were banana leave and coconut shells.
10 :
Not much different than the people here in Kuala Lumpur. Some wears jeans and t-shirts, some wears batik and the custom shirt and it's a bit similar to the top of "baju kurung".. and some of them used to have shorts and t-shirts for their daily outfit.
11 :
Dunno. The last time i stay there the men were in prison officers uniforms.
12 :
I know in the large cities they are pretty similar but moving further away from inner cities and yoou may find more men wearing sarongs instead of suits
13 :
if you picture indonesia the way you see Myanmar/Burma, you are absolutely wrong. Indonesia is a modern country with various cultural arts. So in term of Working clothes, Indonesians wear the same style with western clothes
14 :
The men in Indonesia wear a casual clothe for working ( with long pant or Jeans & Shirt or T-Shirt with collar) This for daily work or Class But for the Top Manager usually wear formal clothes (long pant & Shirt with tie & Jazz or Blasser)
15 :
Cooling clothes, as the weather can be pretty hot. I think batik shirt for casual events, short sleeve shirts for work, pants or jeans most of the time, shorts at home or at the beach! T-shirts are also the ;in thing' now. Happy New Year! PS: Yes, they are pretty similiar to the west except on Fridays when Muslims where traditional costume to pray!
