The currency used is the Rand. And yeah, I assume it would be safe for you to do your masters degree at the universities in JB, I heard they're pretty good. JB is also the best place to make the big bucks! I don't know about cheap tickets, if you are a student you should find a travel agency aimed at students in your city, as the ticket rates are lower... Good luck!

The currency in the whole of South Africa is the Rand. Yeah don't worry its quite safe for you to study and there are some good universities in the area such as: WITS (http://web.wits.ac.za/) UJ (http://www.uj.ac.za/) Vega (http://www.vegaschool.com/) Tuks but its in Pretoria, about 45 min away from Johannesburg (http://www.up.ac.za/) The prices im not sure how to explain but normally the do the McDonalds conversion... so its about R25 for a meal, so you can convert it yourself? Flights should be cheap since im assuming you a student. Maybe you know of a few local student travel agencies by you but here's a few that were on google. http://www.skyscanner.net/flights/id/za/cheapest-flights-to-south-africa-from-indonesia.html http://www.studenttraveler.com/mod-htmlpages-display-pid-79.html www.statravelblogs.com/janelivesey/blog/indonesia/jakarta Hope this helps
